FrontPage Counter Issues

Counter Doesn't Update

Symptoms
Your FrontPage counter doesn't count.

Cause
The FrontPage 98 extensions have an issue concerning read/write access on the server to the counter file.  This occasionally creates a problem the first time a counter is added and published.

Resolution
Send an e-mail an Email to Web Panache.  We will review your folder and add the proper permissions to the counter file if necessary.

Counter Loses Numbers

Symptoms
Your FrontPage counter is at a lower number than it was before.

Cause
Your counter is updated at the server level when people visit your site. Each time you publish, the counter on the web is overwritten by the version stored on your personal PC.  Since this counter is not visited, it remains at a low number.

Resolution
Before you publish, reset the counter on your personal web to reflect the counter on the internet.  To do this, right mouse click on the FrontPage counter component, and enter the correct number in the reset counter to field.
