Access Forbidden Message

Symptoms
When you attempt to visit your site by typing the address in the browser, either a blank HTML document appears or a File Not Found message displays.

Cause
This happens when you do not have a default "Home" page defined within your FrontPage web.  As a result, when typing your generic site address (without a specific .htm file), the browser does not know which file to display first.

Resolution
There are two possible resolutions:

  1. Define a navigational structure using the Navigation View within FrontPage Explorer. FP Explorer creates a default "Home" page at the top of the hierarchy. Copy the material of your "home" page to this file, or rename your home page to this file name.
  2. Rename the file you wish to appear as your home page to "index.htm". Our server recognizes this file name as a home page and will return it when your site address is typed in a browser.
