| American Civil Rights Union (ACRU) |
| Another evil twin of the ACLU. Has Linda Chavez and Robert Bork on its board of directors and promotes the usual distortions of the constitution: corporations have a right to pollute and destroy the environment ("property rights"), fundamentalist Christians must be given preferential treatment by the government ("freedom of religion"), equal rights for minorities constitute discrimination of white men ("equality under law"), and many others. |

Founded by West Chester, Ohio former girl scout Patti Garibay in 1995, the group aims to encourage girls "to honor God while also serving country, community and family", stressing patriotism and allegiance to the flag. The AFA article claims 1000 members in Ohio, Indiana and California. |
| Parent's Rights Coalition |
| A Newton, MA based extreme right pressure group (founded 1994) that thinks that Christian Fundamentalist parents
have a right to control their children's lives even when they have reached legal age. Mainly anti-gay, the Parent's Rights Coalition attacks comprehensive sex education and anything that aims to improve the sense of self-worth, safety and
wellbeing of gay students. Headed by Brian Camenker, a Newton native who is actually jewish, the PRC scored its greatest success so far in 1996 when it got the state legislature to pass a "Parental Notification Law" that essentially made
sex education in public schools optional, but still "opt-out" as opposed to "opt-in". Currently, right-wing MA activists are working to change that. Camenker and his group were instrumental in creating what they and their peers have labeled the "fistgate scandal" . They attended and secretly recorded a March 2000 conference for teachers and gay teenagers which featured frank discussions of gay sexuality, including fisting. This "scandal" has been a major rallying point for them ever since, as evidenced by the extensive coverage devoted to it by the Massachusetts News, an extreme-right MA newspaper. Camenker recently showed his true colors in a reaction to a new scholarship to fund the studies of gay college kids who have been cut off by their bigotted parents saying that the initiative is "a complete outrage'', and that it amounts to "spitting in the face of parents who know it's a horrible thing for their children to be doing". And there you have it: 1. child abuse is good, as long as conservatives do it, and 2. young adults have the right to be conservative, but not gay. |
