About The USS Harvey Milk

For those who may not know, Trek clubs and organizations
around the world usually refer to themselves as ships. In that tradition,
we launched our organization as the U.S.S. Harvey Milk,
naming our "ship" in memory of the first openly-gay person
to be elected to city government in a major U.S. city.

Harvey Milk, elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors
(equivalent to a city council) in 1976, was assassinated in 1978,
along with Mayor George Moscone.

Please note that we are NOT affiliated
with Paramount or any other Trek organization.

Official USS Harvey Milk Combadge

THE USS HARVEY MILK IS INTENDED to be a place for gay and lesbian Star Trek fans (and their friends) to share commentary, reviews, proposals and stories that relate to Star Trek and the inclusion of lesbian/gay characters on Trek programs.

This includes commentary about what you would have liked to have seen in past programs, (including the original series and ST:TNG) and what you would like to see in the future on DS9 or Voyager, plus discussions about how we might make it happen.

THE PLANET STONEWALL PAGES are home to the Planet Stonewall Gay & Lesbian Science Fiction Association, a cyberspace organization created to meet the needs of gays, lesbians and their friends who are interested in all aspects of science fiction. Visit the Planet Stonewall page to find out more about what the group hopes to accomplish and how you can participate.

BE SURE TO READ THE VOYAGER VISIBILITY PROJECT'S open letter to Voyager producers Jeri Taylor, Michael Piller and Rick Berman, which asks why we have yet to see gay or lesbian people portrayed as part of Gene Roddenberry's vision of a future where war, poverty, racism and sexism have all gone the way of the dinosaur.

We've also created an electronic petition asking that the producers of Voyager immediately begin to include lesbian/gay characters on the new series. Please take a moment to read it and add your signature.
