Edward Malachi O'Donnell, Jr., the youngest child (and only son) of Edward Malachi and Florence Fenney O'Donnell, was born in 1935.  He attended Most Holy Rosary Elementary School, and Christian Brothers Academy High School, then graduated high school in 1955 from Lawrenceville Academy in New Jersey.  Like his father before him, EMO-II was an avid golfer, becoming a Syracuse District Junior Golf Champion in high school, and went on to play varsity golf at Georgetown University (he received his B.A. in 1959 from Georgetown).  Following military service in the U.S. Army Reserves, EMO-II entered the business world in Central New York.  He began working with the investment firm of Foster & Adams, then in the late-1960s, assumed responsibility for the various EMO's enterprises.  Today he owns and manages the E.M. O'Donnell Company in Syracuse.  A life-long lover of literature and rare books, EMO-II is also a partner in Johnson and O'Donnell Rare Books.

EMO-II and Cathy Phillips had known one another in high school, and they married in 1962.  They raised three children (Maureen, EMO-III, and Patrick), and they live today on Rockwood Place in Syracuse.

Bishop Walter Forey weds Edward M. O'Donnell, Jr., and Cathy Phillips at St. John the Evangelist Church in 1962 (Monty Montague stands in as Best Man, while Bill Pfohl, Jr., and Tom Montague serve as alter boys)
