EDWARD THOMAS MONTAGUE, JR.

Edward (Tom) Thomas Montague, Jr., eldest son of Monty and Mary Montague, was born in 1947 in Syracuse. Tom attended Most Holy Rosary School from K-12, graduating from MHR High School in 1965. His sweetheart and date for the Senior Prom was the effervescent Mary Ellen (Mame) Murphy. Tom went off to Stonehill College in Massachusetts. Majoring in philosophy, he received his college degree in 1969. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He returned to New York in 1971 and married Mame in a beautiful September ceremony on Basswood Island in the St. Lawrence Seaway, the Thousand Islands summer home of Mame's parents (Dr. Tom and Hunnie Murphy).

Tom went to work in 1971 for Computer Task Group in Syracuse, and he remained in business computing for the next 27 years. Business computing nearly drove him insane. And so in 1998, Tom followed a life-long dream and began a new career in counseling. He completed some coursework in psychology at Syracuse University, as well as state-required training in counseling through Onondaga Community College. Today he serves as a mental health counselor at Tully Hill.

Tom and Mame have two sons: John David Montague (born in 1972) works full-time as he pursues his part-time college career at SUNY-ESF; Tom ("Thomas Patrick," born in 1978) received his Associates Degree in fine arts at Proctor Munson-Williams College in Utica, and is now a full-time art student at Maine College of Art (MECA) in Portland.
