Piranha Bites
Volume 4

How much does he look like Coach Jim??? I’ve heard the word streamline a lot the last two weeks….Keep up the good work! I hope this newsletter finds you all doing the Rain, Rain Go Away dance!! For those of you who were around last year, my prayer has been that the rain is getting itself out of the way before the season starts.  We definitely don’t want a repeat of our weather situation from last year’s meet season. Anyway, thanks to all of you for keeping such a “can-do” spirit as we tackle the laws of nature.  Following are some important dates, some of which are revised from previous communication, so pay attention….

Saturday, May 15th 8:00 am – Stroke Clinic at Knightsbridge Pool – This is a “short” or refresher course for Stroke Judges and coaches. This clinic is being led by our own Shery Dollihite, ably assisted by Coach Blake and Coach Brad. This clinic will last no more than 30 minutes. Check Piranhas Hotline for cancellation information due to yes, the weather!

Monday, May 17th   Last day to turn in orders for extra t-shirts (extras for swimmers, shirts for siblings and or/parents) and Piranha shorts - Order forms can be printed from the web site. Turn in your completed form, along with payment, at practice.

Friday, May 21st     Piranhas Pictures – this is a revised date! Following is the schedule for pictures (at Knightsbridge Pool):

                             3:45   Individual pictures

4:45   Team Picture (yes, the entire team!)

Immediately Following Team Picture – Remaining Individual Pictures Note: No pictures will be taken past 6:30

Friday, May 21st     Last day to request a full registration refund – this is one week later than was published on the registration form. Once again, we are accommodating the rain…

Friday, May 28th    First day of morning practice! Summer practice schedule will be Tuesday – Friday, at the following times:

                             6 and under  7:50 – 8:30           11/12           9:45 – 10:40

7/8             8:20 – 9:10            13 and up     10:30 – 11:30

9/10            9:00 – 9:55

Please note that there is a 10-minute overlap between practice times to allow time for stretching and warming up exercises prior to getting into the pool. No, this does not mean that practice “actually” begins 10 minutes later than the published start time – practice begins with coach-led exercises at the published start time.

Wednesday, June 2nd        8:00am - Time Trials: 6 and under, 7/8, 11/12 swimmers (only these age groups need to come to the pool)

Thursday, June 3rd           8:00am - Time Trials: 9/10, 13/14, Open swimmers (only these age groups need to come to the pool)

Monday, June 7th    OUR FIRST MEET!!  Exciting details to follow in future Piranha Bites….

Swim Suit Update: I understand from some of you that you have not been able to get your swimsuits because Finish Line has run out of some sizes. The latest from Finish Line is that they are expecting to receive more in toward the latter part of next week (another good reason to move pictures to next Friday). I would CALL them before you head over there!!

Something to think about…….For less than $10 a week, your child is getting a lot of the stuff that memories are made of – hanging out at the pool, making new friendships and solidifying old ones, the thrill of competition, the camaraderie of teamwork, not to mention fantastic swim instruction…….

My personal goal: One page by the end of the season!!  --Bubbles
