Why is it that the ladies in this comic strip always have short red hair?…..Bubbles is getting a little paranoid….Speaking of donuts, our first meet is on Monday!!  We will be swimming against the Maplewood Marlins at Maplewood. You will find a copy of the map at the end of this edition of the Bites. As I am writing this the second day of time trials is underway. Things are going very well. Swimmers and parents alike appear to be having fun – that’s what recreational means, isn’t it? Thanks for the enthusiasm – it really is contagious!!  Now, what do donuts have to do with our first meet?  Check out what’s on the list for the next few days and you’ll find out…..

Friday, June 4th     Normal Morning Practice Schedule

The T-Shirts are here!!!
      The handbooks should be here!!
         Piranha Bait 8:30 – 10:30!!

I think I’d be at practice tomorrow!!!!!!!

Sunday, June 6th     Eat pasta – I hear that’s the thing to eat the day before a meet!!

Monday, June 7th    NO PRACTICE!!

Monday, June 7th    Our first swim meet!!!   Have your swimmers at Maplewood no later than 3:45.   I would allow at least 30 minutes to get there. Lots must be done before the meet actually begins at 5:00…Swimmers must be marked, warm-ups must be done, socializing to do…just kidding, even though that really is one of the things the kids enjoy about swim team!!  Things not to forget: to check the schedule in the handbook to see if you are working at the meet and where, goggles (we have a few for $12 if you lose them), towel, swim cap (we have some for $8 if you want to buy one, but they are not required), backpack with stuff to do (cards, game boys, books, etc.) MARK EVERYTHING WITH A PERMANENT MARKER!! Please read your handbook before Monday – this will be your best friend during the swim season and will answer many questions (When did I sign up to work, Where is our meet, etc.).

Tuesday, June 8th   Celebrate a great job at the meet on Monday – moms will provide DONUTS (celebration sugar) for sleepy swimmers at PRACTICE – yes, we will have practice….Beginning today, bring your sneakers for a post-practice run….you veterans will remember!!

I’ll go ahead and answer a couple of questions that I’m sure to get….Pictures should be here early next week – yes, we hope to have buttons by Monday’s meet, but this is not definite (remember all that rain and the delays we had?)….Shorts (if you ordered any) should be here next week…

PIRANHA PARENT TIP OF THE WEEK:  Avoid swimmer’s ear…Home remedy prescribed by our pediatrician…Mix equal parts vinegar and rubbing alcohol together. Most pharmacies will give you a bottle with a dropper if you ask for it. Put 2-3 drops in each ear after swimming. Really works – our family does this at bedtime every night during swim season…Swimmer’s Ear hurts worse than an inner ear infection – you really don’t want to go through that!!

GO PIRANHAS!!
